Emerald mining areas in Afghanistan’s Panjshir province have expanded following a reduction in license fees from 90,000 to 25,000 AFN.
Saifuddin Laton, spokesperson for the Panjshir governor, said the move was made to provide facilities for emerald miners, significantly boosting extraction activities.
According to him, in 1404, a total of 111,570 carats of Panjshir emeralds were sold to national traders through 23 auctions, valued at $4.178 million. With a 10 percent royalty, around AFN 32 million was deposited into the accounts of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan.
