Kazakhstan plans to raise trade with Afghanistan from around $500 million to $3 billion, highlighting Afghanistan’s role as a key regional trade corridor.
Officials said Kazakhstan views Afghanistan not only as a bilateral trade partner but also as a transit route to global markets. Expanding transport infrastructure and transit corridors is seen as essential to achieving this goal.
Kazakhstan also seeks to diversify imports from Afghanistan, which could boost Afghan exports, particularly agricultural products and carpets. Despite no shared border, trade is conducted through neighboring countries, with railway and transit projects expected to facilitate cooperation.
