Pakistani airstrikes in Behsud district of Nangarhar province have killed 17 people, including 11 children, and injured five others, according to the Nangarhar Department of Information and Culture.

Quraishi Badloon, head of information at the Department of Information and Culture, said the attacks took place around midnight in Khogyani, Ghani Khel and Behsud districts, with a residential house in the “Gardi Kuch” area reportedly targeted.

Meanwhile, an international human rights organization said in a report that 16 members of one family were killed in the attack. The victims included men, women and children ranging in age from one to 80 years old. The organization described the incident as a serious violation of international humanitarian law and called for an independent investigation and accountability for those responsible.

Former Afghan President Hamid Karzai strongly condemned the Pakistani airstrikes in Nangarhar and Paktika, calling on Pakistan to reconsider its policies toward Afghanistan and pursue a path of peaceful neighborly relations.

The Afghan Ministry of Defense and local officials have also said that an appropriate response to the attacks will be given at the appropriate time. Security officials emphasized that the actions constitute an apparent violation of Afghanistan’s national sovereignty and that civilians remain at serious risk.
